Children's passports

After the birth of a child's parents had two options to 2007: They could be registered in their passport at the local registration office to apply for their child or a machine-readable passport children directly. Since November 1, 2007, however, it is no longer possible to register his child in the parent's passport. Since 26 June 2012, the older children entries in the parent's passport are invalid. Children need their own passport ever since.

What is a children's passport?

A child passport is machine-readable travel document for children and replaces the former child ID. Children's passports are issued with a validity period of six years, ie longer than until the completion of the twelfth year of life. From the age of twelve, a passport or ID card may be requested.

Applications may be submitted by a parent when an informal authority, be presented with the name of the child, the other parent and its identity. From the age of ten and the child must audition and sign the passport by the issuing authority.

US and other specifics

No matter which holiday destination chooses a family. it is important to be in time for before departure for the required documents for entry inquire. Because some countries require (eg Czech Republic) photographs or even passports for children (sometimes as early as six years). US Travel

It is possible that the legal situation concerning the use of already expired documents is not known everywhere. Therefore, the Foreign Office recommends to carry valid travel documents.
